Be sure to itemize all your items. Prepare a list indicating all the items that have been taken to the facility for storage. Anytime you bring in a new item or take out an item, ensure you indicate this on the list. Use this to trace the whereabouts of all items that are not in the home.

Fragile items need to be handled in a particular manner. As you take items to the unit, ensure all boxes handling fragile items go in to this unit first. This is to ensure that no boxes will be placed on them.

It is important to always ensure you utilize the space available in a unit. Stacking is a great way to ensure that all boxes stored in the unit are stored in an orderly manner. By stacking, you also make it possible to use all the space available in the unit you have leased. Make certain that you have used wood planks between the boxes so as to separate them.

When looking for a unit to lease, it is important to determine whether you would like to lease a climate controlled, or non-climate controlled unit. A climate controlled unit is the best for goods that are perishable. You should also consider the location of this unit from your own house.
