DIY And Small Bathroom Vanities

By Darren Hartley

A flea market cabinet turned into a stylish bathroom vanity with antique charm is an example of a DIY bathroom vanity. By removing the top of the cabinet by unscrewing the cabinet top and disengaging it from the frame, the first step to this DIY exercise is completed.

The next step to the creation of a DIY bathroom vanity involves the reinforcement of the frame with the use of an electric screwdriver. A long screw is placed in the center of the frame. After measuring the cabinet top, a sub-top out of plywood is cut and used as a replacement of the original top.

The cabinet back is removed using a hammer and a screwdriver. A piece of 2" x 4" board is cut to the height of the inside of the cabinet. The board is then placed parallel to the original supporting beam. To allow room for the drawers and sink of the DIY bathroom vanity, the new support beam is glued and screwed in the center front of the cabinet.

Finding the right small bathroom vanities that suit the style of a homeowner, overcomes the storage, decorating and design challenges presented by a small bathroom. They pave the way for the creation of a perfectly stylish small bathroom.

Among small bathroom vanities, the cabinet-style cabinet is considered classic and common. Its built-in drawers and concealed compartments provide a generous serving of storage all in one place. This more than makes up for the fact that its solid shape takes up a lot of space.

Small bathroom vanities can take the form of wall-mounted vanities. They are attached only to the wall, thereby revealing open space beneath the sink down to the floor. Similar to a pedestal or console sink, this floating design lends an airy look to the room. The amount of storage in a wall-mounted vanity depends on its specific design. It can consist of a countertop and sink or it can feature a short cabinet beneath for additional storage room.
