Change has been an inevitable to humans since the start of evolution. People are always looking to improve the present or better it. In the construction and designing industry, there have been a lot of changes and technological improvements that have made it possible to try the impossible. The modern architect in Richmond VA has a lot of new designs that make it unique. Below are some of the features.

The modern architecture is greatly influenced and inspired by function. It takes a break away from the traditions where they had a fixed way of doing certain things. The present day houses are designed in a manner that serves the purpose. If it is a residential house, each apartment is done according to different needs which different people express.

Roofing in past was necessarily to cover the house against the environmental elements that people were running from. However, the new architecture have gone in a different way where they have discarded the old triangular roofing for a more artistic and sculptural resemblance. A roof doe not only cover the house but made a bold statement about the building.

Traditionally, there some of the features that were in house design had their particular needs. An example is the window that was simply for light and aeration. The door was for security purposes. In latest architecture, they not necessarily used for their purposes but design. Aeration is done by air condition systems while security has been improved thus no need of a traditional doors and windows. There is also need for privacy and placement of windows can be placed almost anywhere.

The ceiling and floor has design has changed radically. Traditionally, these floors were designed to be uneven starting from the kitchen, sitting area and even the restrooms. But in the latest designs, the floor has been more open and there is less or no change in altitude. This has been because of the technological improvement that has brought about better and efficient home appliances that do not call for any modifications during installations.

They also have embraced the post and beam architecture where they make up a skeleton of steel and concrete. They also make the floor and leave the walls for matters of subdividing the space rather than support. This allows use of glass walls that can be customized to have different looks and shapes as part of the interior design as room dividers or for appearance.

Previously, the outdoor space was not really a part of the house design. But in recent years, there has been an increases interest in the garden decor and topography as it is a way of complementing the building designs. An excellent example of this is Falling water or atrium. Other designs seamlessly connect the interior with the exterior through glass walls.

Modern architecture has no limits when it comes to budgets and resources. Unlike the traditional architectural ethics where there was rationing of the scarce resources was a priority. Nowadays because of a cheaply available resources, new construction technology and free creative spirits, buildings have different looks and designs.
