What To Know About Mythology Books For Teens

By Tammie Caldwell

Teenagers want to be able to connect to the world they live in and one way to do this is through stories. Mythology books for teens have the ability to connect the past with the present which is good for a younger audience. They will be able to identify with the struggle of the characters who are their own age and at the same time learn about ancient gods.

The reason why a younger generation can appreciate the ancient myths is due to the fact that the authors of these stories have found creative ways to blend the past with the present. The subjects and morals of the stories are timeless because they are dealing with humanity. However, teenagers can now see themselves in these stories because the language is in a form that they can understand.

The gods of yesterday are presented in a world that is filled with modern technology and fast food. They are the fathers and mothers of children with humans who live in a modern world but cannot be with them because of certain laws. It is these children, who are the teenagers in some of the books, that are the focus and the heroes of the stories that are written for young people today.

One of the good things about these stories is that it is relatable to a younger audience. There are many teens today who have to deal with various issues such as dyslexia, not knowing a parent and knowing that a parent exist but not being able to see them or be with them. There is also friendship and betrayal that many can identify with.

Another factor that draws a young person into the story is the powers and abilities that the teens have. They are usually not appreciated by the people around them at first. However, when they meet with others who are similar to them, they soon realize that they are not the same as others and that it is okay to stand out and make a difference in the world.

This is one of the ways a teen can identify with the stories the read. They are also trying to figure out who they are and why they are here on this planet. They want to know that they have a purpose and that there is someone that is there for them. The heroes in the stories help them to consider how to make the connection between their gifts and helping others.

Another mark of these stories is the relationship between the gods and their children. These teens grew up with their human parents, but they never met their immortal parents as was said earlier. There are some teenagers today can relate to having a parent that is with them all the time and having one that is out of reach for many different reasons.

The bottom line is that books written for a younger audience has to be relatable and easy to read. They have to be able to see themselves in the story even though it is a truly ancient one. They have to know that whatever it is they are going through there is some kind of light at the end of the tunnel.
