Dealing With Fire Damage

By Steven McBride

There are some things in life that are completely out of our control, such as the weather or traffic on the way into work. On the other hand, some stuff we have complete control over, like what we eat for breakfast or what we wear. Things happen to people all the time that are out of their control. When a fire breaks out in your kitchen because of a faulty switch. That was not your fault, however now it is time to make some decisions on what to do next.

The first thing you should do when you have a fire break out in your home is know where a fire extinguisher is located. Always make sure you change out the extinguishers in your house about every three to five years due to carbon build up. Once you have gotten your family out of the house, then you take action to put the fire out.

The next thing to do in case a fire breaks out, is always have the emergency response team on stand by. Let 911 know what is going on at your house and take any advice they give you and your family. Know that if you can not put the fire out by yourself that someone will be there soon. The average response time is under ten minutes.

Now that you have got the fire under control and everyone is gone, who do you call? Do you go with who the insurance provider has suggested or do you call a company you have already researched and know is trust worthy. I think it is best to do your home work before something happens.

First, always have the number of an emergency restoration company on hand. You never know when something will happen and you need their services. When dealing with your home, it is best to have a professional company deal with the repairs needed to get your home back to its original condition.

Lastly, sit back and relax. Let the professionals do their jobs and get your home back to the way it was before the fire!
