If you are a new home owner and you have a beautiful back yard, a fire place would be a great addition to it. It will make the place look beautiful and pleasing to the eye. If you are interested in building one there are two options available. You can choose to look for a professional who will build it at a fee. You can also opt to do it yourself. Most people choose to do it by themselves. This is because it is fun and they will be proud of it. Before starting the construction there are some things that one has to do before building a concrete outdoor fireplace.

After you have gone through the laws check your homeowner insurance. This is to make sure that you do not have to change anything in your policy. If there any changes, do them before starting your construction. By doing this you will prepare so that no inspector stops you halfway through your construction work.

If you have an insurance policy for your home it is wise you go through it. There might be some sections that will need to be amended. You can also consider changing the policy to fit you. The state might also have other restrictions. You should know these fine details so you do not get into trouble. They might specify what fuel you should use.

Your backyard has a style that you might have chosen yourself. It would be wise for you to choose a fireplace that will maintain the style that already existed. You might have to change the material you would have chosen for the fireplace since the patio has a different material. This should not stop you from building something unique by choosing a unique design.

Choosing where you want the fire place can be tricky. You need to call up your utility providers and find out if there are any underground cables that can stop you from proceeding. The location must have some special characteristics so it can qualify. It has to be far enough from your house. This will ensure that in case of a large fire your house will not burn down.

You will also need to build it way from other structures. These structures include barns and play houses. Play houses are most delicate since your child plays in them. Children can be careless and if there is a fire place close by they can easily get burnt by the fire. Garages should also be far enough so they also do not catch fire.

Most back yards have trees. If you have a few you need to make sure no tree branches hang over the area as they easily catch fire.

If you will be building the fire place on a deck, it should be able to withstand both the heat and the weight. It is wooden cover it with a heatproof material.
