While photographing a wedding on the beach here in Key West in amongst the onlookers I saw a little girl smiling as she was looking at the bride. She exclaimed "she looks beautiful like a princess, mommy!" And, so her impression and quest of the perfect wedding dream begins.
You can't help but see it in all the fairytale movies: after the boy meets the girl, and they overcomes all the known obstacles, hurdles, and pressures that have you hanging tense on the edge of your seat they finally kiss, that first kiss, what you've waited been waiting for. The next scene in the movie is the perfect wedding, perfect in every way, with everything planned to a T. With beautiful instrumental music playing in the background, the groom waiting patiently as the bride approaches with the processional, you see the scene as it is shot from every possible angle. First, to the groom, then, to the bride, then, behind the bride as she finishes her accent to her groom, and standing before the officiator who ask their intentions, the groom looking lovingly and nervous at his beautiful bride, the bride gazing shyly at her handsome groom, joining hands and hearts, exchanging vows and rings, and then the wedding kiss to seal the vows and create the marital union.
What happens next is generally a blur to the couple, as they start the celebration with family and friends. It's a moment in time which fills the hearts with emotions that cannot be duplicated. The question to ask is how will this once in a lifetime moment be captured? How will you be able to recall this event and share it with family and friends, who were not able to be there? Or even your children or grandchildren as an heirloom to pass down? This is a big decision, almost as big as when you said "Yes, I'll marry you!" Will you leave this to family and friend with little or no experience in wedding photography? Or to someone who isn't familiar with where you are holding the ceremony and able to capture not only the beauty that surrounds you, but you in the beauty? This is where the importance of planning and research begins.
Experience in professionally photographing literally hundreds of weddings here on the island of Key West, allows me to tell you that only a professional can deliver what your heart looks for in both your photography and video of your "perfect wedding". Over the years, seeing all the many changes and trends with wedding photography, starting first with medium format, going to 35mm film and now to digital, you know and I know the importance of photography, as it is the preferred way to capture those emotional moments with family members and friends. Thus the importance of hiring and confirming the experience of a professional photographer or videographer for your wedding is priceless.
These are questions you should ask, don't be shy or afraid to ask, as this is whom you are considering hiring for your wedding, your perfect wedding, your dream wedding.
